The Jasper Project
Moony Mission
Prevention starts on day one. The Moony Mission equips first-time horse owners with the knowledge, resources, and community they need — before a crisis ever begins.
"Knowledge is the most powerful tool an owner can have."
Our Prevention Program
Knowledge Is the Most Powerful Tool an Owner Can Have
Named after Moony, the Moony Mission is The Jasper Project's education and prevention arm. Most horses don't end up suffering because their owners didn't care — they end up there because their owners didn't know. We exist to change that.
Through free hands-on classes, educational resources, and direct partnerships with rescues and sale barns, we meet first-time owners exactly where they are. We cover the essentials: nutrition, hoof care, veterinary schedules, behavioral basics, and the real financial responsibilities of horse ownership — all without judgment.
When owners are equipped and supported from day one, horses thrive. That is the Moony Mission.

Our First Class Is in the Books
The Moony Mission officially launched with its first hands-on class for first-time horse owners — and it was everything we hoped it would be. The session was made possible by the generous support of board members Kennen Burkhardt and Amy McAdams, whose dedication to this nonprofit helped bring the program to life. A heartfelt thank you goes to Finn and Pharlee, who served as the patient, willing teachers of the day — proving once again that horses are the best instructors around. We are also deeply grateful to Christine Gentile of Painted Glory Ranch for opening her beautiful facility to us. Her generosity gave our first student the perfect environment to learn, ask questions, and build confidence. This is exactly what the Moony Mission is all about: real education, real horses, and a community that shows up for one another.
